number change

Our 866 number is having problems lately -- I imagine this has something to do with our friends at Tellme who provided the number. In the meantime, please use the 617-area number. If you have a reasonable plan on your cell phone, you shouldn't notice the difference.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, and we're looking for another way to get toll-free access. If you operate a VoiceXML platform and would like to sponsor Ringfo, drop us a line at contact@ringfo.com .

for reference:

old number (do not use): 866-835-5637
new, working number: 617-712-3574

cheers,

-the Ringfo team

servers moved

We recently moved Ringfo from a web host to our own box in a colo. This gives us more control and allows us to add new features easily.

The move was necessitated by our web host flaking out on us, so it was a rush job. There was some downtime associated with that, but the Ringfo number -- 866-835-5637 -- is back up and running. I apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused.

Tellme sponsors

Tellme has agreed to host our voice application, and with that comes a new access number. The new number for ringfo is now 888 - 937 - 4462. Please use this new number, as the old one will be discontinued.

We look forward to working with Tellme to bring new features to Ringfo. The Tellme platform has a lot of great features, and we hope to use it to power a better Ringfo service.

Search for any Amazon product

Ringfo is not just for books and CDs anymore!

We're testing a new feature on Ringfo -- the ability to look up any item at all, and see (or rather hear) if it is available at Amazon.com.

Just use Ringfo as you normally do -- call the toll-free number, and enter the UPC number found on the product. Remember, you have to enter *all* the digits, even the ones off to the left and right of the barcode, like this :

Then listen as Ringfo tells you the product name, list price, amazon.com price, and any used prices from Amazon marketplace.

When you're done shopping, come back to your computer and go to ringfo.com to review your items, do further research, or place an order. It's that easy! Use it whenever you are out shopping and need more information on thousands of products.

Many of you have asked for this, and we'd like to hear what you think. Drop us a line. It's currently in 'beta', so it's not quite perfect yet.

amazon product reviews

Amazon has recently launched a new feature called "Product Reviews". We have just incorporated this feature into the Ringfo website.

When you hold your mouse over a product link in your search history, a box will pop open showing the cover, title, description, and so on.

Since this feature is an Amazon 'beta', it is not yet fully tested. Amazon wants to compare the click-through rates of this new feature compared to basic links, so some users won't see the feature at all in their browser.

If you see Product Reviews on your Ringfo history page, let us know what you think.
